Junior-Varsity Coaching Staff

Joe Krmpotich, JV Head Coach

Joe is an Eden Prairie Alumni (1998) with a passion for Red and Black.  He served as captain for two seasons and is one of the all-time leading scorers at Eden Prairie High School.  Krmpotich enters his 18th season as the Head Coach of the Junior-Varsity. 

His playing career after high school includes 2 years in the USHL with the Rochester Mustangs, one year of D1 hockey at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and three years at the University of St. Thomas.  At St. Thomas Joe was the teams captain his senior year and also voted Most Dedicated, by his peers. Joe graduated with a degree in education and taught in the Eden Prairie School system for eleven years before deciding to focus on his coaching passion full time.

Joe currently runs the Ice Edge AAA Hockey Group located in Eden Prairie (2007-present).  He has been a Little Twigs Hockey School employee since 2003 and an owner since 2016.  Krmpotich spends his days working on skill development as a private lessons instructor. 

When not at the rink, Joe spends his time in Eden Prairie with his wife Karen and sons Luka and Leo.

Marty Mjelleli, JV Assistant Coach

Marty Mjelleli enters his 13th season of coaching, his first with the Eagles. He spent previous seasons in the USHL, NCAA, and USA hockey.

Mjelleli played baseball and hockey at Shattuck St. Mary’s High School where he helped lead the hockey team to win the 2001 USA national championship.  In junior hockey, he was a captain with the Des Moines Buccaneers, garnered 2004 USHL All-Star team honors, and is a member of the Buccaneer Hall of Fame.

A Cum Laude graduate of St. Cloud State University, Mjelleli played for the Huskies from 2004-08.  He received NCAA Hockey Humanitarian recognition, was a three-time WCHA All-Academic team member and was named to the All-America First Team for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award.  In 2016 he received Graduate of the Last Decade Award for SCSU.

Mjelleli would later play professionally for the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.  He finished his career in Europe playing in the Netherlands and Germany.

He currently resides in Eden Prairie with his wife Shannon and children, Milania, Rocco, and Louie.
